Hiking

The Fédération française de la randonnée pédestre (FFRandonnée / FFRP) is a national non-profit organization based in Paris. It has 24 000 active members, including  3.500 French hiking associations or clubs affiliated. The association supports environmental protection and is dedicated to promoting and developing hiking and ecotourism.
The Federation is responsible of the animation and the markup of French hiking trails, the mounting of signposts (made by 8.000 volunteers members), the creation of new trails and the publication of hiking guides and maps.

 

Among its missions, the Federation also:

  • Organizes, develops and promotes any form of hiking, for all, including aqua walking.
  • Creates, marks up, maintains, digitalizes and promotes hiking roads: GR®, GR® de Pays and PR.
  • Contributes to the environmental and nature protection, notably by protecting landscapes of interest, roads and hiking trails.
  • Forms specialists like hiking leaders, trails markers, paths planners and association managers.
  • Provides technical assistance to associations affiliated, in the organization of their activities.
  • Creates publications: 230 topoguides (hiking guides).
